got receipt notice dated 6th of june for 140 premium processing and got call from employer on 8th of june evening saying the case has been approved. approved in less than 3 days.
What service center was it from? Was it a concurrent filing of I140 and 485?

Might have something to do with completely incorrect coment you left regarding 1 yr validity of h1 and all.. it's so not true that probably angered a few members with low BS tolerence
I guess this statement is true.
for example: If there is H1 to H4 conversion on 11/01/07. Last used date of H1 is 11/01/07 and H1 will expire on 11/01/08 since it is unused for an year.
Another example: If H1 is approved on 10/01/07 and not used till 11/01/08. H1 will expire on 11/01/08 since it is unused for an year.

Its not a question of blood sucking etc...i know, i was very involved in my company. The real reason for delaying the I-485 process is the company has to really disclose a lot ( i mean a lot) of its financial information about itself to USCIS,( including the latest tax returns) etc..
A lot of small business do not want to do that as they differ their taxes for years. Tax differment is not new ( read about News Corp). These companies do not want to get into these situations.

Get on with sweet talks with him, do whatever he tells u to do (like sign a contract, pay ur GC cost etc). After filing u have an option to change the employer after 6 months and then no employment bond works. He will just ask for money when ur leaving him and if he doesnt give ur salary, talk to him polietly and mention the words 'Dept of Labor' in your conversation.
BTW, I got my wife salary from her employer and one of my friend was also 'bonded' ..got rid of his employer too ...using those words.
My employer is desi consultant too and is very good in such matters, quite helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. Most desi consultants are blood suckers but not all.

Well, I am a legal immigrant from Mexico, I have an MBA, my race is white (100% European as are more than 10 million Mexicans) and I do not wear a "sombrero".
I thought that this forum was for us all to help each other and not enter these types of useless arguments. I cannot believe that the posters of these racist messages, who are Indian, are falling into the same sterotypes that Americans fall into in regards to India. You are doing that with Mexico. I thought of going back after getting citizenship, but that would be another 8-9 years at the least. I would miss the big ride in India. When I went there(Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu) 3 years ago, I did not like it that much. But I see a big change in the last 3 years. Infrastructure is improving. Few of my friends have already gone back and are pretty happy over there.
I am from Hyderabad, l left that city in 1999 to do my MS, got my MS, switched a couple of jobs as i thought career growth / job satisfaction was more important than filing a GC, finally my present company filed my GC in 2009 (PD 2009), I am fed up of this laborious process, not everyone can take it, and I am one of them, and as I get older, I am getting more conservative and I find it difficult to adjust here. I am visiting India this year, if everything works out, I will be heading back, even with all the complaints about India, it still is my country of birth, and there is a saying, "Janani Janma bhoomishya swargadapi gariyasi", translated, Mother and motherland are superior to the Heaven.

No onde denies that we cannot vote. But we have the basic rights, like being treated "equally and fairly". For example, if some employer violates labor law and did not pay you for your work, I am sure you can sue, even though you are not a citizen. There are some basic rights that everyone has, esp. if you hold good fainth and are damaged. Statement that you do not have any rights as you are not a citizen is just wrong. I am wondering how this will impact people's (esp. people from other countries) perception about this. :confused:

But please, just trying to beat around the bush is not going to help anyone here for that matter not just me alone. You suggestion of sending flowers seems like that is the only solution to all the problems. I would say the reversal of the July 2 visa bulletine didn't just happen because of the flowers the members sent, the law suit AILA wanted to file against USCIS was one of the major reason apart from the California's Lawmakers letter. So please don't try to cut peoples idea by trying to belittle them, if you don't agree with them it is ok, if everyone agreed on the same thing life will be so dull.

I just wanted to ask you a few question. The biotech firms employ a lot of people on H1b visas. How come none of them, excluding Genentech, is included in the compete america group's letter to the congress. I strongly feel and pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, other biotech companies should also be included to stand for the H1b visa and green card issue for their employees. Seccond question I would like to ask is about the provision to renew the H1b in increment of 3 years each after the 6th year, which apparently has been taken off in this new CIR bill. This is a very technical issue and employers would not want to loose the trained employees after the 6th year period. It does not make any sense to refuse renewability of the H1b after 6 years since by that time that employee has already become an asset to the company or this nation. Please make sure to stand for that particular issue. H1b should be renewable in increments of 3 years each if the GC has been filed by the 5th year. Let me thank you for successfully campaigning for increasing the H1b numbers and hopefully this will enable me to move from my present acadamic position (Ast Prof at XXXXXX) to an Industry.
