I totally miss your point: why is ending retrogression bad? Because all 800K people might get the GC within 6 months? Whats wrong with that? Its not fair to those who have waited longer than others? Dont be a member of the "just because I suffered I want everyone else to suffer" That makes you no different from that talkshow host (who is now a citizen) on the radio channel recently who said he waited 10 years to get his GC, so everyone else also should, otherwise its not "fair"
Or, are you mixing up ending retrogression with making dates current? No thats not what we want. We want dates made current after the visa supply = demand. Just making all VBs like the July VB is pointless, and does lead to lots of uncertainties. By ending retrogression I mean making sure we have enough visa numbers for all who have been qualified by DOL (LC) and USCIS (I-140), by:
- ending per-country quota
- not counting dependents
- recapturing wasted visa numbers.

I will be more than happy to see all quotas lifted and everyone gets GCs tomorrow. But I will not be happy if a 2007 person gets the GC tomorrow and I get mine after 5 years. That's exactly what might happen if they keep the quotas but remove retrogression

If there is a revised bulletin which shows that your Priority Date is retrogressed then your's will be thrown off ....
I mean you missed a golden opportunity because you had whole of June
to file - i know its not your fault , just stating the Fact.
I'm in very similar situation. My dates were available for June as well. My HR/Attorneys did this long and painful bureaucratic process. We have an internal website which says that my case was �filed� on Jun-29th. Don�t know what the fuck that means. Whether it was sent on 29th or received on 29th? Couldn�t get HR to answer.Don�t have direct communication lines with Attorneys... If it�s sent on 29th, does USCIS take packages on Saturday or Sunday? If they take only on Monday, will they throw it out because it reached in July? Oh well, just have to wait and see...

I had taken infopass and officer sent an email to TSC enquiring about current status. Today, I got snail mail reply..

I guess country quota was an idea to make sure that nationals from one country don't become a voting bloc ..plain and simple ..and hence illegal immigration became such a hot topic since it seemed that mexicans would become a huge voting bloc ...

140K GCs are available on Oct 1. But, dates are not current. Based on this, there appears to be a law that prevents USCIS from recieving ALL AOSs. I am guessing that this law specifies a cap on AOSs that USCIS can recieve from lawyers. (This is why I am keen on knowing conditions for setting dates in VB)

For example July 2006 visa bulletin for EB2 india was jan 2003 and the August 2006 visa bulletin for EB2 india was unavailable. EB2 india visa numbers might have already been used up when the August 2006 visa bulletin was released but they still accepted the AOS petitions filed until the end of July 2006, they did not issue an updated visa bulletin or a revised visa bulletin saying eb2 india numbers are used up and they will not accept eb2 india aos applications, they continued accpeting AOS applications until the end of july 2006.
It is impossible to believe that this cap was not violated in June when it is possible that USCIS got 200K-600K AOSs.

IV could not even collect 20K in the Washington DC drive. I hardly saw EB3 folks contributing (based on my observation, I might be wrong so take it easy). If every EB3 person contributes 50USD, it will be enough to run a campaign. Action is the key, not posting in forums. Hope we get out of this EB2 vs EB3 and as focus on visa recapture.
I am EB3 and I contributed to every IV campaign including the last DC advocacy. Just because all IV efforts end up helping only EB2 does not mean EB3 people do not contribute or participate in advocacy efforts. Its just that no one wants to hear about EB3 whether it be USCIS or anyone else. :mad:

In the past week, the "Protest Blooms" campaign notched up the following wins:
Times of India article
Buzz in the blogosphere
Attention from many attorney websites and blogs
Had a Washington Post journalist show interest in our issue and had tens of our members talk to her - which should result in a good article. How many times have we seen so many regular members of IV being able to speak to a reporter of a mainstream US publication on our issues?
Had a senior Reuters editor talk to many of us and he promised a sustained coverage of our issues
Had a senior reporter from New York Times talk to me
Had the footage of this entire event shown on CNN in India
Had many small media outlets which never cover these kind of issues, cover it (in smaller towns in MN and NY)
Created a sense of action in the community which was feeling pretty dejected after the USCIS fiasco
Had USCIS director react to us
Had so much interest generated that the IV website was brought down J
Brought a great deal of attention to IV (see previous point)And all this was accomplished with a severe time crunch. The grassroots effort involved in this campaign was unbelievable - thanks to everyone who kept the faith.
Was the point of this campaign to have our flowers be decorated on the desk of the director of USCIS? I don't think so. The word again was "symbolic" and that purpose is served whether the flowers are in boxes or in full view of the world.
Would it have made for better visuals if the flowers were in full view? Sure. Is there a way to improve upon every campaign? Sure.
Let us learn from what went right and what went wrong and use this to better execute all future events.

Unless and untill everybody in EB3 has contributed ataleast a $1000.00 to the immigrationvoice cause, its waste of time to discuss about the EB3-India movement. Any way we have to spend a lot more than $1000.00 in renewing EADs, H1Bs and H4s.
Otherwise just wait and pray for the CIR bill to pass. Then every body in the EB category will get the benefit being the EB3- India/China are the greatest benefitters.
