Hi,
All the posts above are good coping measures, and some are used to actually deal with depressive symptoms. However they have missed the MOST important one! You used the term clinical depression. Please if you truly feel that way seek help, and seek it now, talk to your doctor or to a councilor. Though I won't go into details, I am speaking from personal experience. Sometimes things build up so much that we slip into such a state where we go beyond sadness and frustration and move to true depression.
From a site on depression: Depression is a disorder that affects your thoughts, moods, feelings, behavior and even your physical health. People used to think it was "all in your head" and that if you really tried, you could "snap out of it" or just "get over it." But doctors now know that depression is not a weakness, and it's not something you can treat on your own. Depression is a medical disorder with a biological and chemical basis.
Sometimes a stressful life event triggers depression. Other times depression seems to occur spontaneously with no identifiable specific cause. Depression is much more than grieving or a bout of the blues.
Depression, true clinical depression, is nothing you can cure with a trip to somewhere else, or having people point out to you how much better you are off than this person or that one. I think the admin should respect the wishes of his friends and close this thread, it is causing pain for them.
If all of us agree that we need to help his family then lets open a new thread and make it about helping them, so his friends do not need to come back here and read his last words over and over again.

I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.
I have filed 485 with approved 140 back in june, 2007 with PD of March, 2003
Please help.

Please keep in mind that the US healthcare system is for-profit. That means that there are too many bureaucratic, legal and business reasons for either treating or not treating the patient. There might be cures or procedures or therapies out there, that your doctor or hospital is not interested in because its not covered by your insurance as it is labelled as "Experimental".
Insurance companies are like maggots. They love premiums but when it comes to claims, they try to swipe as many cures and procedures as possible under the rug of "Experimental treatment" so that they dont have to pay.
I would suggest that you do all you can to seek immigration advise but please consider going to India for a month and getting a second opinion from Apollo or AIIMS or such high-quality Hospitals.
I would not trust the for-profit, suck-all-blood-dry, deny-care and inhumane healthcare system of this country where the care-givers and the insurance companies are in collusion with each other to maximize profits and do whatever it takes to maximize profits even when it means that some people die and others go bankrupt even after paying insurance.

Agree with mostly what you have said. Question still remains what causes people not to contribute even 20$ now while in the past they have contributed 50 , 100 or even more. Just something to think about.
I disagree. Changes in laws do not happen overnight and any efforts that core is making cannot be made public all the time. If they can get thousands of people the benefit of moving to EAD etc. then I am sure they are working behind the scenes to get more favorable changes done when the time is right. I have faith in their ability.
Moreover since I am not actively volunteering in any activities the least I can do is contribute. So I call on everyone to contribute for your cause - none of us is doing anyone a favor by contributing. We are DIRECTLY favoring us by making a contribution.

Guys, get a grip on yourself. Volunteer your time for IV. It is both fulfilling and it is for a cause.
Of course being in a state of limbo is not the best thing you planned for, in life. If your spouse is not allowed to work and/or has difficulties coping with stress, just channelize all energy towards IV goals.
Cheer up.
I talked to many important people in IL including state government, university professors who are related to immigration and/or have interest in imm. They are all aware of our problems (hard country limits, spouse/dependents counted in visa numbers etc). It is only the offices of congress reps that show a blank face as far as skilled immigration is concerned.
So I urge you to join your local state chapters and start meeting your reps and/or office staff asap.
Now for those, who are here for a free ride with no progressive work and have not contributed, shame on you and I mean it. :)

I don't think people are in reality. We are in an environment that we have to be diligent that they don't make it harder then what it is; rather then making it easier.
People started playing the devils advocate that if there is quotas on EB then there should also be quota on H-1b; sort of trying to say if there isn't quota on h-1b then there shouldn't be on EB.
A little while ago; some Indian nationals who were here on H-2 visa to help with re-construcing mississipi and louisiana after hurrican katrina got the bright idea to do a march and go public with their grievances. Their grievances were that they paid $15K to come to USA; they were given poor housing, poor working conditions and they want to get greencards.
Do you think they got greencards? No; now the law has been changed to not include India as part of H-2 visas.
Everyone should try to understand the reality that we are in.
This is exactly what I was saying. People are getting overzealous and are losing their balance. By attracting too much attention when everyone in power is being anti-immigrant you people will hurt everyone. They will impose some more restrictions on us.
We need to lay low for a while until economy improves and focus on keeping our jobs. That is the need of the hour rather than becoming a hero and trying to go against the wave.
